The leaping maiden takes its name after the little girl in Fyodor’s ‘A gentle creature’, who plummets to her death after her husband, the unreliable narrator of the story causes her to take her own life. In this piece, however, we remember the spirit of the girl who for a long time dwells only on hope, love, and a need to survive. The story intricately takes us in and out of the narrator’s understanding of the situation while leaving out her side of the story. Built with care and strength we put forth a remarkable piece that makes a statement, is a mix of many things, and is incredibly so beautiful.
